Heartworms are not external parasites, but are carried by an external vector known as a mosquito. We recommend once-a-year heartworm and tick-borne parasite screening that can be done in the comfort of your home with results readily available.
LAVender recommends oral prevention as long as it is purchased from the veterinarian. We recommend monthly HeartGard or Simparica Trio for Heartworm. For oral flea and tick prevention, we recommend monthly NexGard or every three month Bravecto.
